Hearts for the Hungry
Please join us in a fulfilling experience with Hearts for the Hungry! On the second Saturday of every month, travel with volunteers from American Martyrs to our sister parish, St. Lawrence of Brindisi in Watts, to feed the homeless and needy in this community.
Volunteers are needed to prepare sandwich meals the morning of the event and to assist in handing out lunches, distribute donated clothing, and help in handing out hygiene products to the needy that stop by the church facility. Volunteers of all ages are welcome but parental assistance is needed for children under 7 years of age.
Rockin’ Readers SLB also joins us to read to the small children present with their parents. Volunteers are welcome to bring/donate books and to read to the children.
The morning’s schedule is:
8:00am To help make sandwiches, meet O’Donnell Hall located next to the parking lot.
8:30am Carpool to SLB — meet in AMC parking lot
9:00-10:00am Help with lunch/clothing distribution at SLB
9:00-10:00am Rockin’ Readers – Read with us to the children
10:30am Carpool return to AMC parking lot
Volunteers must confirm their participation in advance to ensure that we are properly staffed.
Donations of clothing and hygiene/toiletry products are desperately needed for this project. If you would prefer just to donate items for this project, the list below gives a broad spectrum of suggestions:
- Hair Shampoo / Hair Conditioner – Family Size
